The K‑Tek KPHW2 Mighty Boom Hodges Counterweight (Full) is a 2.2 lb (1 kg) bottom‑mounted counterbalance designed exclusively for K‑Tek Mighty Boom boompoles. It reduces booming fatigue by counteracting the amplified downward force created by a microphone and shockmount at the far end of the pole. This improves balance, stability and maneuverability, especially during long shooting days or when working with heavier microphone setups. Made in the USA.

Detailed Description

The Mighty Boom Hodges Counterweight Full is engineered to reduce operator strain caused by the lever effect of long boompoles. Even lightweight microphones can feel significantly heavier over time due to the downward movement force at the tip of the pole. By adding mass to the base, the counterweight shifts the balance point closer to the operator, making the pole feel lighter and easier to control.

Constructed from solid heavy metal and covered with foam for comfort, the counterweight is durable and optimized for professional field use. For large microphone payloads, multiple counterweights can be stacked to achieve ideal balance.

Named after Scottish mathematician W.V.D. Hodge, this counterweight is widely used by experienced boom operators. Ronald Wright, known for his work on Hawaii 5‑0, praised the counterweight for improving stability in challenging environments such as surf and long‑distance booming.

The KPHW2 is finely machined, foam‑covered and designed exclusively for K‑Tek Mighty Boom poles. Not compatible with Avalon or Airo boompoles.
